Tuesday Afternoon/ Evening - 3rd June

 

 

Arrival in Ireland

Dublin, Ireland

 

Host families meet children and bring them home

Dinner  in Ramada, Drumshanbo

 

Wednesday June 4th

9.30-11.30

Welcome to School

Each Partner present country and school to children. School presentation of music and dance!

 

11.30-12:30: sports activities- learning gaelic football with Bernie Shannon( pupils and teachers)

 

 

1-2 Lunch at Arigna Mining Museum

2-4 :Tour of the Mines/walk along part of the Miners Way and a trip to Tommy’s Farm

 

 

6-8: free time

8-onwards- Social evening at the school

 

 

Thursday June 5th

10-11.30: Presentation of Comenius work on Project

 

11.30-1:00:  Comenius planning meeting for teachers

 

1-2: Lunch at school

 

2-5: Trip to Rockingham Demesne shopping

 

 

5-8 Free time

8pm:Dinner at The Moorings, KNocvicar

 

9.30pm onwards- Music session in Monica’s pub, Drumshanbo.

 

 

Friday June 6th

10-12: Finalise Comenius plans for year 2 of project

 

12: Attending classes: 9 teachers in junior room/9 in senior room. Music class with Padraig (Introductory lesson on how to play the tin whistle!!)

 

 

2pm : Lunch in hotel 

4pm onwards: departure for Dublin/ airport.

 

 

Childrens' Schedule

 

Wednesday 4th  June

9.05- children arrive at school- shown to classroom

 Language lesson: welcome in all the languages

Hello/ how are you/ what’s your name? What are your hobbies etc in Irish

9.30-11.30: country presentations and music and dance presentation by school.

11.30-12.30: Sports: learning gaelic with Bernie

1.00-2.00: trip to Tommy’s farm (

2-3pm. Trip to Arigna Mining museum

3-6; relaxing at home with host family- maybe shopping in Carrick-on -Shannon

8pm: Social evening at school

 

 

Thursday 5th June

10:00 onwards: Presentations on Comenius project to date- all countries

 

11.30: rugby/hurling

 

12.30: Lunch break

 

 

1.00-3:00: Gardening/ project work  with Wayne

3.00-5.00: relax at home with host families

 

5.00-7.00: Horse-riding at Moorlands Equestrian centre- Families/ children or A gaelic match at St. Ronan’s Park.

 

 

Friday 6th June

9.30: maths trails in groups- all school

 

 

11:00-12.00  drama class with Mary Blake ( these may swap with each other)

 

12:00-1:00: Tin whistle class with Padraig

Lunch: 1-00

 

 

Farewell and
